It’s becoming harder to feel confident students’ work is their own and that they are truly learning course material. This is even more difficult in online courses. Economics instructor, Kevin Owens, has shifted from a multiple choice final exam to a virtual oral exam in his online economics courses. The results are remarkable. In a post exam survey, most students reported the oral exam greatly changed the way they studied, helped them feel confident going into the exam, and felt the oral exam format was a fair and accurate assessment of their learning. Join Kevin as he shares:
· Why he made the switch
· How he designed a course with a conversational final in mind
· How he prepared students to succeed
· What the survey results showed
