WKU Department of Social Work Attends Social Work Lobby Day

Bowling Green, KY- Students and Faculty from the Western Kentucky University Department of Social Work participated in Social Work Lobby Day on Friday, March 3rd in Frankfort, KY.
At the event, the social work students and faculty, from all WKU campuses, attended a training on lobbying, and were able to meet with Representative Jim DeCesare, Representative Jim DuPlessis, Representative DJ Johnson, and Representative Jody Richards. The group also participated in a Social Work rally in the Capitol Rotunda and observed the Kentucky House of Representatives in session.
Students remarked feeling empowered that their voices make an impact. They were also very eager to start advocating for particular National Association of Social Work (NASW) supported bills.
Our WKU Department of Public Health has a new publication in Science Direct! Ethan Given, a graduate of our Masters in Public Health (MPH) program is second author in publication.
WKU’s Institute for Rural Health, part of the College of Health and Human Services, has received a $2,500 grant from the Kentucky Dental Association.
