The Business Living Learning Communities are specifically designed for first-year students to receive enhanced learning resources and support toward a successful academic and eventual business career.
The Business Living Learning Communities provide a unique opportunity for first-year students to connect with like-minded students in both the classroom as well as in the residence hall. Students will take some classes together and live near each other to better facilitate study groups and other extracurricular activities.
Mentoring comes from a professor and an advanced undergraduate Learning Assistant who are specially trained to guide students toward engagement in university life and connections with academic support and counseling programs. Learning Assistants will help students network with fellow students and provide group tutoring sessions.
M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan, the orientation program for incoming residential students, is designed to help first-year students to better acclimate themselves to the campus community and begin building social and academic networks.
During the fall semester, students will enroll in BA 175, the Business University Experience course, where they will learn how to prepare for the rigors of a university academic life, with a focus on critical thinking, study, and personal development skills.
Students will also take at least one more Colonnade course with their Living Learning Community cohort. This allows students to continue developing those all-important networks.
