Western Kentucky University Spring Class of 2020, we look forward to celebrating your outstanding achievements with you here on the Hill.

Graduating Seniors, thank you for taking the time to help guide decisions on how we celebrate your accomplishments by voting on your preference for commencement event dates. We conducted two surveys, and the responses from a majority of graduating seniors on both surveys determined the tentative celebration date for this fall.

WKU Commencement in September

Commencement - September 18 - 20, 2020

During the weekend of September 18-20, WKU tentatively plans to host Commencement celebration activities. The weekend coincides with the annual Parent & Family Weekend. As plans develop, dates and times will be provided.

Graduating seniors may also choose to return to WKU to celebrate in December 2020 or May 2021.

On May 15, the WKU Board of Regents accepted the recommendation of President Caboni and Provost Stevens to confer degrees upon graduating students. This ceremonial process streamed online, and can be found on Facebook and YouTube.

While we work diligently toward plans for the weekend of September 18-20, we also want to keep the safety and wellbeing of our graduates and the Hilltopper Family at the forefront of our plans. If the pandemic alters our plans in any way, we will continue to adjust plans with the involvement of our graduating seniors.

Over the next several months, the Commencement Planning Committee will work with parties across campus to develop the schedule of commencement activities. We welcome feedback from members of the graduating class. Please email your comments to special.events@wku.edu.

Yes! There will be a Commencement ceremony to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our Spring 2020 graduating class. We have tentatively rescheduled it for the weekend of September 18-20, 2020.

Your cap and gown was included in your graduation fee. Beginning Monday, April 6, you can request that the WKU Store ship your regalia to your current address. Given the unique circumstances, WKU will be providing this service at no cost to graduates.

To place an order, please visit https://wkustore.com/

The postponement of May 2020 Commencement does not affect the semester completion date for our students, nor does it affect the timeline for degree conferral. As such, May 2020 graduates should expect to receive their diplomas in the mail within 4-8 weeks from the end of the spring semester. For questions or concerns about student diplomas, please contact the WKU Registrar’s office by emailing registrar@wku.edu.
