Information for Guests

 

Arrival Time

Diddle Arena opens 60 minutes before the first ceremony of the day. We encourage anyone with mobility or health issues to arrive early. 

 

Parking

• A limited number of parking spaces in lots adjacent to Diddle Arena will be reserved for individuals who possess a disability parking permit. Reservations are not needed.
• Parking attendants will direct you to the appropriate parking locations.

ADA Shuttles

• Complimentary event shuttle service to Diddle Arena begins at 9:00 AM and runs through the end of the final ceremony.
• Topper Transit buses are ADA and wheelchair accessible.

Accessible Guest Seating 

• Wheelchair accessible seating and companion seating for guests is located on the second level of the arena. Elevators are available at each entrance. 
• A recommended pathway is to park in Parking Structure 2 (PS2) and use the entrance that is closest to PS2 to enter Diddle Arena.
• All seating at the ceremony is open. No reservations are needed to have accessible seating. 
• One additional guest may accompany the attendee with a disability to this area. To assure accessible seating for all who need to be accommodated, we ask that other guests be seated near the accessible seating areas.

 

American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation Services 

During Friday's College Recognition Ceremonies, a sign language interpreter will be located on the floor seating of E.A. Diddle Arena in Section B.

 

Accessible Restrooms

All guest restrooms are accessible within Diddle Arena.

 

Sensory Information

College Recognition Ceremonies occur in Diddle Arena, where graduates and guests will sit indooors under bright fluorescent lights. This event includes live music, applause, and other loud noises from a large crowd of people. 

 

Ceremony Program

The program is available digitally on the day of the ceremony. View the ceremony program at this link. You may adjust the type size to suit your needs on your personal viewing device. 

 

Wheelchairs and Mobility Devices

If you use a wheelchair, walker, scooter, or other specialized equipment, please bring it with you. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistive devices are the responsibility of the attendee.

Information for Graduates

 

General Information

Students who are participating in the Commencement or College Recognition Ceremonies should contact the WKU Student Accessibility Resource Center (SARC) at (270) 745-5004 or sarc.connect@wku.edu for assistance with accessibility accommodations (such as seating) during the ceremony. Requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis. SARC will make every effort to accommodate all requests.
