NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC COUNCIL (NPHC)
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing body for WKU's nine Historically African American letter sororities and fraternities. It was formed as a permanent organization on May 30, 1930 on the campus of Howard University, in Washington DC, with the following stated purpose and mission: "Unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities, and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations."
The WKU NPHC provides many on-campus activities during the school year such as educational programs, social events, and the Homecoming Step Show. The NPHC also works very closely with the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Panhellenic Council to help foster the four main aspects of Greek life: scholarship, leadership, service, and sisterhood/brotherhood.
NPHC believes in supporting the academic mission of the institution. With that being said, we are currently accepting applications for the Western Kentucky University National Pan-Hellenic Council Outstanding Minority Student Scholarships. We are looking for two applicants to present this award to that are great role models in the WKU community through their scholarship and community service. If you would like to apply please click on the link below.
NPHC does not have a formal recruitment process. You can reach out to each organization to identify what informational opportunities are available. Students need to sign up for Greek 101, which is a requirement of students interested in joining an NPHC organization. This is a workshop where you will learn more about NPHC history, WKU NPHC History, and the steps to take to be prepare when seeking entrance into any of the nine organization.
