Dr. Jay Gabbard elected chair of the Board of Directors of Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society

Dr. Jay Gabbard, Professor of Social Work at WKU, recently was elected Chair of the Board of Directors of Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society, International. Phi Alpha is the only national honor society for undergraduate and graduate social work students, is certified by the Association of College Honor Societies, and has over 450 chapters in the United States and Abroad.
The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideas. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
Gabbard shared, "It is an honor to be elected Board Chair of Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society. This organization, which has been in existence since 1960 (and 1990 at WKU) has done so much to promote scholarship, service, and leadership amongst social work students across this nation and abroad-and I'm so proud to be a part of it."
