Potter College Fall Festival
**Due to the weather Fall Festival has moved to November 4th!!**
Join us for the annual Potter College Fall Festival on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the Colonnades from 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. This year, we will also be having a virtual talent show screening at 6 p.m. To keep students, faculty and staff safe, Healthy on the Hill guidelines will be implemented during the day for any in person activities. The theme is PCAL Pocus, inspired by Hocus Pocus. Follow @wkupcal on all the socials or this webpage for updates.
Get your flu shot at Fall Festival! On November 4 from 1:00 pm -4:00 pm in front of FAC. Bring your insurance card, drivers license and WKU ID.
Fall Festival T-shirts: Shirts can be picked up on the day of Fall Festival at the DCS booth at the FAC lawn.

Fall Festival Activities
First Annual College Cup Competition
This year, we are launching our inaugural College Cup Competition. Departments can participate in various competitions the week of Fall Fest, including pumpkin decorating, food drive, booth decoration, and costume contest (see below for more details).Departments can secure points when they or a member of their department wins a contest. The Department with the most votes will receive the coveted College Cup (and bragging rights) that will remain in their office until next year’s fall fest. They will also be featured on our social media!
Competition Point System:
- Pumpkin decorating contest - 20 points for each category
- Food drive - 1 point for each assigned department item; 1/2 point for any other item from the Food Pantry's suggested list
- Costume contest - 10 points to department of individual winner; 5 points to department of each group winner individual
- Booth decoration contest - 20 points
Department and Student Organization Pumpkin Decorating Contest
This contest is open to all PCAL Departments and Student groups (including PCAL friends) who wish to participate. Each group/department should decorate 1 pumpkin that will be judged on Department/PCAL Pocus pride and presentation. Each category will have 1 PCAL department winner and 1 student group winner, making a total of 4 winning pumpkins.
To submit a pumpkin for judging, the group/department should either post a photo of their pumpkin on instagram tagging @dcsofpcal and @wkupcal or email to email@example.com. Photos of the decorated pumpkins are due by Monday, Nov. 2.
Additionally, the departments/student groups should drop their decorated pumpkins off at FAC 166 (the Academic Commons) on Nov. 2 or 3 between 2 - 4pm time so they can be displayed on the day of Fall Festival. Winners will be announced on the day of Fall Festival!
Departmental Food Drive
We are back again this year with another Food Drive Competition. All donations go to the on-campus Food Pantry, located at the Office of Sustainability, which has a high demand for items due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. This competition is open only to PCAL Departments.
One point awarded for each designated item and 1/2 point for any other donated items from the list.
A Dean's Council ambassador will come to pick up the items from the office in the morning of Fall Fest Day (Nov. 4), to deliver the items to the food pantry.
- Theatre and Dance - dry pasta
- SoM - pasta sauce
- English - canned ravioli
- Socl & Crim - condiments (pickles, salad dressing, ketchup, etc.)
- Comm - canned/packed tuna and chicken
- History - pop tarts
- Political Science - canned beans
- Philosophy - canned beef stew
- Folk Studies - canned veggies (not green beans or corn)
- Art & Design - boxed crackers/snacks
- Music - precooked rice
- Modern Languages - whole grain granola bars
*These items are in particularly high demand right now. Please try to make healthy choices when buying your items.
This contest is open to any individual and group that wishes to participate. Participants should dress up in their best spooky, PCAL Pocus-inspired costume and submit a photo via direct message to @dcsofpcal on instagram or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by Nov. 2.
Bring your best witches and cats, but make sure your costume is respectful to everyone’s culture and appropriate for social media. All costume entries will be put into a bracket and voted for on the DCS instagram account. The winners will be announced on the day of Fall Festival. There will be one individual winner and one group winner. The winning individual will be awarded a PCAL Pocus gift bag, including a free Fall Festival T-shirt! The winning individual’s Department will be awarded points towards the College Cup Competition (see details above).
T-shirt Scavenger Contest
On the day of Fall Festival, we will still be giving away a select amount of free Fall Festival T-shirts. However, to avoid the large crowds of t-shirt drops, we will be adding in a fun scavenger hunt for students to receive a free shirt.
The day of Fall Festival (Nov. 4), visit each of the booth locations (Jodie Richards Hall, Cherry Hall, Grise Hall, FAC, and Kentucky Museum) and snap pictures of yourself with the Robert Guthrie statue under the bell tower, the red statue in Centennial Mall, the statue of President Cherry, and the Abraham Lincoln statue in front of the Kentucky Museum. Once you are done, come to the DCS booth at the Colonnades to receive your free t-shirt (while supplies last)!
Department Booth Decoration Contest
The day of Fall Festival, when students who complete the scavenger hunt to receive
a free shirt and check-in with the DCS booth at the Colonnades will be asked to vote
for their favorite decorated booth. At the end of the day, the department booth with
the most votes will receive points towards the College Cup Competition.
