WKU math professor presents talk to international group

The Control Theory and Inverse Problems Research Group’s online seminar addressed the international community interested in mathematical problems from control of differential equations, inverse problems and related subjects.
Dr. Ozer’s topic was Introduction of Novel PDE Models of Certain Smart Material Systems and Diving into Related Controllability Issues. His presentation is available online at https://youtu.be/liZmJXY0hek
“We had around 50 participants connected live. I felt truly privileged to speak to these wonderful mathematicians and to successfully wave the WKU flag at the international scale,” Dr. Ozer said.
Dr. Ozer utilized video production technology from his home office to record and edit the presentation. “Other than pushing myself for publishing research papers at the top-ranking applied mathematics journals, after adopting this technology, my research has been more visible at the international scale,” he said.
He has used the technology to produce more than 700 short Calculus and Differential Equations videos. Cengage, one of the biggest digital learning and online teaching companies, has purchased the IP rights of custom-made instructional Differential Equations videos he made over the last summer. These videos are being directly embedded in their e-book and digital platform.
“The technology I adopted for my Calculus classes has directly reflected on my research, and indeed, I got so many compliments from the audience about my unique presentation,” he said.
One of the organizers noted after the conference “It was a very nice talk, with a lot of information inside. I appreciate a lot the large quantity of aspects you mentioned. I am sure it will be very useful for people in the area, especially young researchers.”
Another senior researcher noted that “I have seen your very impressive talk yesterday. The last decade have seen many improvement and generalizations leading to robust convergent methods for PDEs with non-constant coefficients, multi-dimensional domains, using conformal or non-conformal approximations. Anyway, good job! It is nice to see and develop real life applications.”
In October, Dr. Ozer presented a similar talk for the American Mathematical Society Sectional Meeting. “This technology has allowed me to showcase my research in an unimaginable way. I have had many international collaboration requests,” he said.
