Honors Calendar

As we explore living on the land theme within honors, we will take a trip to visit WKU and Honors alumna, Michelle Howell, co-owner or Need More Acres Farm. What started as a small plot of land has grown to a larger enterprise that provides locally grown produce to local communities, including hospitals and local schools. Michelle and her husband, Nathan, also mentor and support local small-scale farmers and they also support programs to feed fresh produce to the elderly and those on limited incomes. Their work exemplifies the tenets of living on the land as they balance sustainability, access, and cost, with economics of running a large enterprise. Michelle will discuss her time in honors and how choices she made have led her to this career path, why keeping your interests and passions is always a good thing, and we'll also have a tour of their property. This is an event for any LLC student interested in agriculture, sustainability, policy, nutrition, dietetics, marketing/public relations, supply chain, community organizing, ag education, and small business.
