Practicum & Internship Events

Practicum Orientation 

If you want to enroll in practicum starting in Summer 2021, you must attend this meeting or meet with me separately to obtain the information. We will review the practicum & internship requirements, paperwork, and strategies for finding an ideal site. You will also hear from current interns about their experiences, suggestions, and words of advice as you plan for your own clinical experience.

Prior to the orientation, please review the following:

  • Practicum and Internship Manual (CMHC & MCFC)
  • Practicum Orientation video overview (49 min) of clinical paperwork, requirements, expectations, hours, and events for getting started with the practicum and internship experience.
  • Practicum and internship webpage that includes key dates and deadlines, paperwork, approved sites, and more.
  • Start early if you wish to establish a new site (see pp 13-18 in the P&I manual);contact the Clinical Coordinator, at WKU.CNS.Clinical.Coordinator@gmail.com for assistance.

Internship & Job Fair

February 25, 2021, 2:00-5:00pm
In partnership with the WKU Advising and Career Development Center 
Network with counseling professionals, ask questions, learn about potential practicum/internship or job opportunities, and hear what advice these practitioners have to share about preparing to enter your clinical experience. You can preschedule a 10 minute private session with each of the site supervisors you wish to talk with about internships and job opportunities. You are encouraged to learn about ALL the organizations to network and learn about a variety of community and referral resources regardless of your intention to apply to the site. You can start signing up by registering on Handshake through the WKU Career Center and viewing the attached tips.
