April Hardison is a speech-language pathologist, certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. April also maintains a membership as a Hanen Centre professional. April earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1994 and Master of Science in 1995, both from Western Kentucky University.
April has 24 years of clinical experience in providing evaluation and treatment to children and adults with a variety of communication and swallowing/feeding disorders. Although April has worked in a variety of settings, she found her true love when working in early intervention. She has worked with the birth-3 population for over 17 years now and has provided externship supervision to our graduate students who were interested in working with young children. April continues to maintain a small private practice outside of WKU so that she can continue her work with infants and toddlers. April is trained in PROMPT at the introductory level and is certified in the Hanen programs, More Than Words and It Takes Two to Talk.
February will mark the third year of April being back on the Hill in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department where she serves as an academic advisor and externship coordinator for our graduate level speech pathology students. Off campus, April is a wife and mother of three teenagers and enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading, and attending the multiple extracurricular activities that fill her family’s evenings and weekends!
