Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) - Kentucky Gamma Chapter

 

Who Are We?

Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) is an international pre-health professional honor society dedicated to supporting students pursuing careers in healthcare. The Kentucky Gamma Chapter at Western Kentucky University brings together students interested in medicine, dentistry, physician assistant studies, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, and other health professions.

Our goal is to help students prepare for their future careers while building a supportive community of fellow pre-health students. Through professional development, service, social events, guest speakers, and pre-health resources, AED gives members opportunities to learn more about the healthcare field and connect with others who share similar goals.

You do not have to be an inducted member to attend our meetings and get involved. We encourage all WKU students interested in a health profession to join us!

 

Why Join AED?

AED is more than an honor society. Our chapter is designed to give pre-health students opportunities, resources, and connections that can help throughout their undergraduate experience and preparation for professional school.

Members can participate in:

• Guest speakers from medical schools, health professional programs, and healthcare careers
• Pre-health workshops, panels, and application resources
• Volunteer and community service opportunities
• The annual Health Professions Showcase
• Opportunities to connect with students pursuing similar career paths

 

AED Membership

Junior Active and Active Members are encouraged to participate in chapter meetings, service opportunities, social events, and other AED activities. Membership applications are offered each semester and will be shared through the Health Professions Advising email and our GroupMe when available.

 

Junior Active Membership

Junior Active Membership is available to pre-health students who have completed fewer than 45 college credit hours. Junior Active Members participate in the chapter while working toward eligibility for national AED membership.

Requirements:
Fewer than 45 completed credit hours
3.3 cumulative GPA
3.3 science GPA

 

Active Membership

Active Membership is available to students who have completed at least 45 college credit hours and meet the academic requirements for AED membership.

Requirements:
45+ completed credit hours
3.3 cumulative GPA
3.3 science GPA

 

Dr. Hugh Puckett – AED Scholarship

The Kentucky Gamma Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta awards the Dr. Hugh Puckett – AED Scholarship each academic year to qualifying WKU students pursuing pre-professional healthcare careers. Eligible applicants must be juniors or seniors during the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded, pursue a qualifying pre-health field, and have at least a 3.5 overall GPA.
