Are you a student at the Gatton Academy? Are you interested in the health field?
Apply to join the Future Healthcare Professionals.
Interested in the medical field? Join Future Healthcare Professionals and see if you have what it takes to enter the medical field. Participants will gain clinical experience completing medical procedures such as suturing, intubating, DNA extraction, measuring vitals, and becoming CPR certified. They will tour the local hospital, meet with healthcare professionals, and delve into the complexities of medical ethics. Apply today!
The program will take place Mondays October 8 - December 10 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Warren County Main Library (just down the street from WKU). This program is being offered in conjunction with the FHP --Warren County program, with specific seats reserved for Gatton Academy students. The application deadline for Fall 2018 is September 12.
Past Activities:
- Measure vitals -- Blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, etc.
- Learn to intubate
- Learn to suture
- Explore current medical dilemmas
- Create a public health campaign
- Use laparoscopic surgery simulators
- Meet with health professionals
- Tour the local hospital

Program Requirements:
- Students must commit to attending all sessions.
- Preference is given to students with a 3.5 or higher high school GPA.
- Preference is given to students who have not previously participated in the program.
