Personal Financial Planning Program
The Personal Financial Planning program provides you with knowledge, skills and technical expertise to begin your journey toward becoming a financial planner or financial counselor. Financial Planning is consistently ranked among the nation's fastest growing (Money Magazine) and most rewarding (Jobs Rated Almanac) careers.
One of the first undergraduate personal financial planning programs in the country, we recently celebrated our 30th year anniversary. Our program is registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. Graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) examinations.
Demand for our graduates has consistently exceeded the number of students in the major. Our graduates earn competitive salaries and have a variety of career options.
Our graduates have:
- Been offered positions with firms across the United States
- Attended national conferences in Nashville, Baltimore, Boston Seattle, San Diego, and Orlando
- Toured wealth management firms in Louisville, Nashville and beyond
- Accepted internships with regional and national firms
- Gone on to law school
- Gone on to own and manage leading financial planning firm
Our students benefit from membership in the WKU Financial Planning Association Student Chapter, which offers numerous networking and professional opportunities.
