Courses 

4 hour course

What is a database? More importantly, how can it make your life easier? This course addresses the design and maintenance of a database system including writing of data queries, data redundancy and validation, sorting, reporting, and database programming. In the course, you will not only design, create and manipulate several databases but will also write database programs. Intermediate and Advanced Access courses available upon request. 


Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand intermediate level database application design
  • Demonstrate how to customize forms with controls, properties, and expressions
  • Show how to manipulate database data to produce reports

4 hour course

Does your job require you to work with Microsoft Excel? This course provides the straightforward foundation you need to utilize a spreadsheet for business applications. Design concepts, databases, charts and macros will be examined thoroughly along with the major built-in functions. Students will design several spreadsheets both in and out of class to solve specific business problems.  


Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand entry and use of the three data types, use of menus and use of commands
  • Practice cell addressing and manipulation
  • Demonstrate saving, creating and printing spreadsheets and graphs

4 hour course

Once you’ve mastered the basics, you’re ready to move on to our Intermediate Excel course which will introduce you to charting features and database management in Microsoft Excel. You will design worksheets that meet Excel criteria for database functions such as sorting and filtering. In addition, you will cover the following: database design criteria, subtotals, PivotTables and PivotCharts.  With Excel, you’ll learn to work smarter, not harder! (Upon request, course can be divided up into Intermediate Excel 1 and Intermediate Excel 2—both 4 hour courses.)  


Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn how to link sheets and files together
  • Demonstrate how to use the conditional functions
  • Understand how to use essential list management

4 hour course

See just how much Excel can do! In this course, you will work on creating action queries and macros, linking to and grouping worksheets to create a workspace in excel, using pivot tables and charts, integrating Excel into Word and PowerPoint and finally, working with goal seeking and more advanced formulas. You have many more possibilities with Excel than you think—taking this course will be a helpful eye-opener about a program that’s probably already on your computer! 


Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand complex functions in Excel
  • Demonstrate understanding of how to integrate Excel into other MS programs
  • Familiarize self with more advanced formulas

4 hour course

Once you have learned some of Excel’s many features, it’s time to apply them in Excel Applications! Excel Applications is a comprehensive problem solving approach that incorporates Excel into real world applications. The case study approach helps you understand the functionality of Excel in today’s workforce. In a work environment, time is a scarce resource; by attending this class, you will not only learn better ways to use Excel, but you will also learn additional features and apply them in practical applications. 


Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the underlying functionality of Excel to become more productive
  • Develop an exercise-oriented approach that allows learning by doing
  • Demonstrate how to use Excel in other Microsoft Office products

4 hour course

Are you new to Microsoft Word? This course will help you to understand how to create documents, edit and manipulate text, reformat your document, save, print and more. While not required, some familiarity with Microsoft products is encouraged. Intermediate and Advanced MS Word courses available upon request. 


Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand computer and word processing basics
  • Apply basic document formatting
  • Demonstrate successful text entry, file saving and retrieving

4 hour course

PowerPoint can be a great tool…if it’s used the right way. Learn the dos and don’ts for creating a presentation that enhances the information you need to convey. In this course, you will design, print, and save a short presentation while learning how to use the program. An Advanced PowerPoint course is available on request.


Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the basic process of creating a slideshow
  • Identify and define function of the title bar, scroll bars, minimize and maximize buttons, menu bar, templates and application control menu
  • Demonstrate how to edit, save and print work

4 hour course

Prerequisite: Experience using prior Microsoft office programs, familiarity with Windows and basic computer skills.

In this course, you will get an overview of the popular Microsoft programs Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. The new version of Microsoft Office offers a more refined user interface along with enhanced collaboration tools than its predecessor—learn how to make it work for you today!


Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn what’s new in Microsoft Office
  • Compare the old and new features
  • Examine elements such as the office ribbon and how it works and the backstage view and how to use it
