How "Stackable" Aid Covers Your Tuition
At WKU, aspiring teachers can take advantage of scholarships and grants that, when combined with federal aid, often offset the full cost of tuition. The key is "stacking" multiple sources of funding.

Teacher-specific loans, scholarships, and grants can stack to cover tuition. Each award also comes with its own teaching service requirement. If you accept more than one, you must meet each program’s rules.
Service requirement: One year of teaching at a public or certified non-public school per semester that the loan is accepted.
Example: Accept TRLP for Fall and Spring: two years of teaching.
TRLP award amounts and forgiveness are administered by KHEAA. Confirm current service terms when you accept the loan.
Service requirement: One semester of teaching at a public or certified non-public school per semester that the scholarship is accepted.
Example: Accept the scholarship for Fall and Spring: one year of teaching.
Service requirement: Serve as a full-time, highly qualified teacher in a high-need field at a low-income school for at least four academic years within eight years of graduation.
You will have three separate service requirements.
Example: TRLP for two semesters (2 years) + Teacher Scholarship for two semesters (1 year) + TEACH (4 years): plan on seven years of qualifying teaching unless Financial Aid / KHEAA confirm that some years can count toward more than one program.
Service rules are set by KHEAA and the U.S. Department of Education. Always confirm current requirements before you accept an award.
