Alex Wright '05

Alex Wright first heard about the Cadet program from a retired police captain who attended his church.  At the time, the program paid half of Alex’s tuition at WKU.  He enrolled in the program despite the fact that he had no intention of becoming a police officer.  However, he quickly realized that he enjoyed the work of a Cadet and changed his career ambitions.  Alex studied Criminology and Sociology at WKU, and the Bowling Green Police Department graciously allowed him to complete his undergraduate degree while continuing on as a Cadet (the common practice at the time was that Cadets who reached the age of 21 would either apply to be an officer or terminate their involvement in the program; Alex continued on as a full-time student and Cadet beyond that point).  After his graduation, Alex began full-time employment with the BGPD as a Detective in Investigations.
