WKU Sociology & Criminology Alumni Profiles

Jenna Craig '10

Jenna Craig earned her BA in Sociology in 2010 and has worked for LifeSkills for nine years, where she manages three county day training programs (in Allen, Butler, and Logan Counties).  In her words, “I enjoy working for LifeSkills because I know we make a difference and impact our community. I love that every day is different. I may go from assisting someone with establishing goals for themselves, to hopping on a forklift, to taking clients out in the community--you name it, I have probably done it at work!”

Thinking back on her time at WKU, Jenna notes the critical importance of doing an internship for getting a job in her field. “First of all, Dr. Bohlander really stands out.  Also, I met my husband in my Sociology classes (Ben Craig, who also graduated and now works at BGPD, so that stands out!)  I really enjoyed the penology field trips and my internship was vital. I remember some college friends asking why I was interning for free at DCBS, but I knew it would pay off. Come graduation time, I had four interviews at different places and was hired on the spot.  So my advice to others is to get out there and intern! I would not have gotten the job I did without having some relevant experience.”
