Jenna Craig Banner

Jenna Craig '10

Jenna Craig earned her bachelor degree in sociology in 2010 and has worked for LifeSkills for nine years. She manages three county day training programs in Allen, Butler, and Logan Counties. She says, “I enjoy working for LifeSkills because I know we make a difference and impact our community. I love that every day is different. I may go from assisting someone with establishing goals for themselves, to hopping on on a forklift, to taking clients out in the community - you name it, I have probably done it at work!”

Thinking back on her time at Western Kentucky University, Jenna recalls fond memories. The time spent in Dr. Bohlander’s class stands out. She enjoyed the penology field trips his class offered. But perhaps the memory closest to Jenna’s heart is the memory of meeting her husband in her sociology classes. Her husband now works for Bowling Green Police Department. She also notes how important it was to complete an internship and gain experience for getting a job in her field. She even goes as far as saying her intern experience was vital to getting her first job. “I remember some college friends asking why I was interning for free as DCBS, but I knew it would pay off. Come graduation time, I had four interviews at different places and was hired on the spot.”

Jenna’s advice for current and prospective students is to take the opportunity and complete an internship. “My advice to others i s to get out there and intern! I would not have gotten the job I did without having some relevant experience.”
