Currently, he is a Sworn Officer with the Bowling Green Police Department and has been with the BGPD since April of 2021

When asked his favorite thing is about working for the BGPD, Jamal says, "The thing I enjoy most is interacting with the community on a daily basis. Helping people is something I am passionate about and to have a job where I can do it every day is like a dream come true. "

While talking about his memories with the Department of Sociology & Criminology, Jamal says his internship with BGPD was an impactful opportunity. He says, "It was an amazing experience and a big stepping-stone towards my career as a Police Officer."

Jamal's advice to prospective students is to do all the things you can while you’re in college. He recommends taking advantage of the many opportunities WKU offers such as study abroad. Jamal says, "Studying abroad will help you learn to connect better with other communities because as you know Bowling Green is very diverse."
