Andrea Anderson '03

Andrea Anderson graduated from WKU in 2003 with bachelor degrees in political science and sociology and a minor in criminology. While she was at WKU she thought about participating in study abroad, but never did. Andrea now considers it a missed opportunity and encourages others to participate in the study abroad program.

After graduation Andrea went to law school at the University of Kentucky. After her graduation from law school she worked in private practice at a local law firm, Kerrick Bachert. She worked there for nine years before joining the legal staff at WKU in 2015. In 2020, Andrea was named General Counsel for the university.

Andrea made many special memories at WKU thanks to engaging criminology faculty that often made it feel like everything was a learning opportunity. However, one memory stands out, a field trip her penology class took to the Kentucky State Reformatory in LaGrange.

Her advice for future students is to hone their communication skills, and take every opportunity they can. “A rich breadth of experiences will set you apart from the competition.”
