Graduate Certificate in Career Services

 

The 15-hour GraduateCertificate in Career Services (CCS) is designed to provide professionals with advanced knowledge and skills needed to better serve clientele within an ever changing job market.

Graduates of this program are better prepared to assist others in making a successful transition to the workforce by working with them in career preparation - ranging from selecting a major that complements career goals to the job search process itself.

This CCS program may be completed as a stand-alone program or as part of a related master's degree program. If completed as part of a master's program, up to 12 hours of the certificate program may be incorporated into the master's with advisor approval.

Admission to the Graduate Certificate in Career Services program requires the following:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Application & Fee: Students seeking a graduate degree must complete an online application for admission. This form is available from the Graduate School wku.edu/graduate.
  • Transcript Record: Graduates of accredited institutions other than WKU must submit an official transcript showing the completed degree to the Graduate School.
  • Statement of Purpose indicating your:
    • Reasons for wanting to pursue this certificate program
    • How your previous life and educational experiences are applicable to this program
    • How you plan to use the credential in the future
  • NoGRE is required 

Please Note: This certificate program welcomes applicants from all master's degree programs at Western Kentucky University and elsewhere. However, students seeking admission to a master's degree program at WKU must apply to and meet admissions requirements of the master's program. Please note that admission to, or completion of, the CCS program will not guarantee admission to any graduate degree program.

The graduate certificate in Career Services requires a total of 15 hours. The 9 required hours, including an internship, are set by the program. The remaining 6 hours can be modified by the student's interest.
