WKU’s Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education is accredited by the Kentucky’s Education Professional Standards Board and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). This program is designed to prepare students for licensure in Kentucky. Thus, we have not determined that this program will meet the educational requirements for teacher certification outside the state of Kentucky. Out-of-state licensure candidates for the state of Ohio must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and have completed an approved, traditional teacher preparation program through an accredited college or university.

Additional requirements for state certification may include background checks, official transcripts, fees, additional coursework, training, experience, and jurisprudence and board examination results. For more details about teacher certification requirements and board contact information, please visit the Ohio Department of Education website.
