Thesis Track, 2nd year grad student
I'm from Stearns Kentucky. I went to the University of Kentucky where I completed dual degrees in Classics and Anthropology.
I'm Thesis track. I chose that track because I completed a senior honors thesis in my undergraduate program and I liked the experience. For my thesis I aim to explore the relationship between fairy tales and anime.
I presented a paper at last year's WKU student research conference. It concerned the aesthetic and work of local tattoo artist Tim Phelps. This year I am presenting a paper at AFS that focuses on gender relations in Irish and Scottish selkie stories, legends and ballads.
After I graduate, I would like to further my education or work towards employment in the education system.
I have three cats (Athena, Alice and Anu) and one dog (Liz). Athena likes to drink from the toilet, Liz eats all the cat food and two of my cats are larger than my dog.
I usually spend my free time (when I have it) reading (primarily fantasy books), and watching cartoons, anime, movies, and TV. I also enjoy traveling (I recently returned from a 5 week trip to Ireland) and visiting friends.
I do not eat vegetables, condiments, or sauces (excluding pizza sauce). My favorite dish is chicken parmesan.
If you were given a couple million what would you do with it? "Spend it of course."
If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose? "Rhapsody from Symphony of Ages."
What did you want to be when you grew up? "Various things including a musician, Native American, scientist, veterinarian, inventor, writer, and a teenage mutant ninja turtle."
