WKU Jazz Band

The WKU Jazz Band is an ensemble of 16-20 students that offers a diverse musical experience for both music majors and non-music majors a like. The Jazz Band is directed by Dr. Sarah Herbert and performs two concerts per semester.
Musical selections include everything from the big band standards of Count Basie and Duke Ellington to modern Big Band, Latin, Funk and other contemporary styles selected from the best jazz writers and arrangers of our time. Jazz Band also exposes students to jazz improvisation and welcomes students of all levels and experience.
The WKU Jazz band has a history of hosting some of the finest Jazz Artists in the field to work with students and perform with the band, making this an exciting and well-rounded ensemble experience.
Required auditions for Jazz Band are offered at the beginning of each semester. Jazz Band audition materials and information are located on the WKU Department of Music page.
