Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship for Art & Design


The Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship is a competitive award, based on the requirements of the department in which you apply. Award amounts are between $1,000 and $9,000 per year, renewable each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters. High school seniors are invited to apply if they plan to attend WKU and major in one of the degrees listed below.

Only incoming freshman are eligible for this award.


How to Apply  -  Portfolio is due February 1st

Please keep in mind that WKU must also receive your official high school transcripts by February 1st as part of this process.

By applying for the Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship, you agree to allow faculty members and staff of WKU's Department of Art, access to and the ability to share your images within the department.

Entering Freshmen applicants who want to be considered for the Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship must submit an online portfolio for review. Provide a link in the space below to your portfolio. You can use any free Cloud-based file systems, including Dropbox or Google Drive. Portfolio materials should include:

In the event that an applicant is unable to provide these materials via a Cloud-based system, the department will accept mailed materials postmarked no later than February 1st. Mail materials to the following address:

Retaining Scholarship

Scholarships are renewed each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters.  Terms for renewal include full-time status at Western Kentucky University, good academic standing (a cumulative GPA of 3.0+), and declaring and making reasonable progress toward an approved arts major (see above). Individual departments may have additional policies.
