How WKU Utilizes AI
Individuals around campus utilize AI for a wide range of endeavors. There are also numerous ways departments or WKU as a whole use AI either publicly or behind the scenes. This list is not exhaustive but serves to give an idea of things achievable via AI or how this technology impacts our campus community.
Blackboard AI Features
The AI Design Assistant helps instructors build content, and anything created requires the instructor's approval prior to implementation. It can save time and reduce repetitive tasks and otherwise streamline the arduous process of organizing and structuring your data.
Knowledge Article Generation
ITS documents the solution to client issues and concerns to provide self-help options and serve as references for future client interactions with our employees. An AI with access to our knowledge guidelines and style guide allows quick and easy formatting of captured knowledge, which reduces the overhead of article creation and reduces time delay before available for others.
System Monitoring
The performance and health of WKU’s systems and network are monitored and analyzed by AI giving valuable insights and reducing overall downtime. You may not see these AI processes in action, but you certainly see the results of their work!
TechHelper AI Chat
ITS maintains the TechHelper chatbot, which is an interactive chat drawing its information from existing knowledge base articles. It references the same information as our ITS Service Desk technicians and is available even when our offices are closed. Got a technical problem? See if TechHelper can assist!
Zoom AI Companion
This option allows the AI to transcribe your meeting and generate useful summary notes! Get easy-to-read notation of what was discussed, outstanding concerns, who agreed to do what, and so forth.
