Ogden College of Science and Engineering is pleased to announce that Dr. Fadi Sibai will serve as the next Director of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Western Kentucky University.

Dr. Sibai received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical (Computer) Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He went on to earn his master’s degree and Ph.D., also in Electrical (Computer) Engineering, at Texas A&M University.

Dr. Sibai joins WKU with experience in leadership, research, and industry engagement. During his career, he has served in Dean, Associate Dean, and Program Director roles at universities in both the United States and the Middle East, including serving as the Acting Dean of the School of Engineering at American International University in Al Jahra, Kuwait.

Dr. Sibai has taught engineering, computer science, information technology, and mathematics courses at several institutions, including the University of California Santa Cruz Extension, San Jose State University, and the University of Akron. He has authored and co-authored over 250 publications and technical reports and has mentored graduate and undergraduate student researchers.

His current research interests include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, computer networks, and hardware acceleration.

Dr. Sibai brings significant industry experience from his work with Intel Corporation and Aramco, and he also established a high-performance computing research center at United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

“Engineering and Applied Science is about problem-solving to improve the world,” Dr. Sibai said. “As the world evolves, complex problems emerge requiring talented engineers, technicians, and scientists to cooperate and innovate solutions. SEAS will help solve the problems of today while training those who will solve the problems of tomorrow.”

Dr. Sibai holds Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and Certified Quality and Risk Management (CQRM) certifications, and is a member of Eta Kappa Nu, the official international honors society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

“Dr. Sibai brings considerable experience in leadership, innovation, industry, and education that I believe will help strengthen our SEAS programs and benefit our talented SEAS faculty, staff, and students,” said Dr. David Brown, Dean of Ogden College of Science and Engineering.

Dr. Sibai’s appointment as Director is effective August 10, 2026.
