Jan Hunt-Shepherd has a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Western Kentucky University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Records Administration from University of Central Florida.  She is the Program Director and an Associate Professor in the Healthcare Information Management Program at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She also provides consulting services and interim management to health care facilities throughout the United States.  Previously Jan spent twelve years in Healthcare Management. Jan holds certifications from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and a Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP).  Jan also holds a certification from the National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).  She is a former President of the Kentucky Health Information Management Association and previously served as an AHIMA delegate in the House of Representatives.
