Psychological Sciences


Quantitative Psychology Concentration

This concentration focuses on use of advanced data manipulation and statistical analysis techniques within psychological science to examine discipline-specific research questions. 

No minor or second major and no second Psychological Science concentration are required. MATH 136 (Calculus 1) is required for this concentration.

    • PSYS 333 Cognitive Psychology
  • Individual Differences and Social Processes (3 hours)
    • PSYS 350 Social Psychology
    • PSYS 440 Abnormal Psychology
  • Biological Bases of Behavior and Mental Processes (3 hours)
    • PSYS 360 (or PSYS 362) Behavioral Neuroscience
    • PSYS 363 Sensory and Perceptual Systems

Research Methods and Statistics (7 hours)

Integrative Science in Psychology (3 hours)

Lab Experience (1 hour) 

    • Select any one PSYS course with a laboratory or lecture / laboratory designation at the 300-level or above.
    • This requirement began with the 2017-2018 catalog.

    • STAT 301 Introductory Probability and Applied Statistics
    • STAT 330 Introduction to Statistical Software
  • Elective in Introductory Computer Coding (3 hours)
    • CS 146 Introduction to Programming
    • CS 170 Problem Solving and Programming
    • CS 180 Computer Science 1
  • Elective in Advanced Statistics (3 hours)
    • STAT 401 Regression Analysis
    • STAT 402 Experimental Design
  • Psychological Science Electives (9 hours)
  • Select 9 PSYS upper-level hours in consultation with an advisor. No more than 3 hours of 490 can be used to satisfy these elective hours. An additional 3 hours of 490 can be applied to the Integrative Science in Psychology Requirement.
