The University has 104 emergency phones strategically located throughout the campus. Each phone has an emergency button that, when pressed, automatically dials the WKUPD Communications Center and triggers the nearest CCTV camera to pan to your location. An open line on any emergency phone will activate a priority response from an officer. An officer will be sent to check on the user of the phone, even if nothing is communicated to the dispatcher. Cooperation is essential to help us maintain the integrity of the emergency phone system. These phones should be used only for actual or perceived emergency situations. All emergency phones are checked for functionality on a routine basis. However, in the unlikely event there is an emergency phone malfunction, please contact our communications center at (270) 745-2548 to report the need for repair.

  • An emergency response can also be activated by dialing 911 from any campus phone.
  • Cell phone users can dial (270) 745-2548 to contact our Police Department directly for assistance.
  • Cell phone users should dial 911 for off-campus emergencies.
  • Callers should be prepared to state the location from which they are calling.

Emergency Call Boxes are located throughout the campus.  Click here for a map.
