WKU Bike4Alz group to ride across country again this summer

A group of WKU students will bike across the country this summer to raise money for Alzheimer’s research.

They are riding with the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Bike4Alz, which was founded by WKU students in 2010. This summer’s ride is the organization’s fifth. The previous four teams have biked over 10,000 miles and raised nearly $200,000 for research.

The 2017 riders are Ethan Brown of Columbia; Logan Carroll and Alex Houlton, both of Louisville; Jonathan Greene of Lexington; and Conrad Jaconette of Dry Ridge. The team’s drivers are Adam Moore and Tommy Sullivan, both of Louisville.

They plan to bike May 20 to July 23 from San Francisco, California, to Virginia Beach, Virginia, and raise $100,000. In Kentucky, they will make stops in Paducah, Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Louisville and Lexington. For updates on social media, follow Bike4Alz on Instagram and Twitter.

There is no known cure for Alzheimer’s, a disease more than five million Americans live with. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. For information or to make a donation, visit
