School of Nursing Students Complete VESNIP Program

Another set of WKU Nursing students have successfully completed the VESNIP (Vanderbilt Experience: Student Nurse Internship Program). Sarah Woodall, a School of Nursing RN to BSN graduate wrote a letter to Dr. Bennett to express how pleased she was with the WKU Nursing Program.

“I am writing to let you know we have just completed another very successful VESNIP program,” said Woodall.

“The WKU nursing students that participated have once again demonstrated the strength of the WKU nursing program.”

Woodall stated that all 14 students that participated in this year’s VESNIP represented WKU well, not only with their knowledge, but with their professional behavior as well.

“Working alongside a Vanderbilt RN preceptor in various clinical settings for 3 twelve hour shifts each week gives the students the opportunity to increase their knowledge base, practice their clinical skills, and experience ‘real life’ nursing.”

One of the students, Olivia Holloway, was presented with the Credo Award from the Acute Care Track.

The nursing Education and Development department will start preparing for VESNIP 2015 next January.

“I am very proud and honored to represent WKU's nursing department each summer with VESNIP, and hope we can continue to participate.” Said Woodall.

The other regional nursing schools that make up VESNIP are Belmont University, David Lipscomb University, Cumberland University, and Austin Peay.
