Three WKU alumni will be recognized for their service to the University and the community at the Hilltopper Excellence Awards during Homecoming 2026.

Dixie C. Mahurin (’62, ’67) will receive the Distinguished Medal of WKU Service, and George K. Fant III (’15) and Chastity D. Fant (’15) will receive the Distinguished Medal of Community and Public Service.

The Hilltopper Excellence Awards, presented by Franklin Bank & Trust, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Knicely Conference Center. In addition to the honors for service, the event will include induction of the 35th Class of WKU Hall of Distinguished Alumni, recognition for alumni achievement, as well as celebration of the 2026 WKU Philanthropist of the Year, which will be announced in the coming weeks. 

Information about attending the Hilltopper Excellence Awards will be shared soon. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a reception sponsored by Kim (’89, ’91) and Rett Dallas (’91, ’00).
