School of Kinesiology, Recreation & Sport

Welcome to the School of Kinesiology, Recreation & Sport webpage. Our school has a long and rich tradition that can be traced back to the very beginning of the university when the first WKU president appointed his daughter as instructor of Physical Hygiene.

The school recognizes the importance of quality undergraduate and graduate degree programs and offers majors in the areas of physical education pedagogy; exercise science; recreation, park, and nonprofit administration; and sport management.

The minors within the school include Athletic Coaching, Nonprofit Administration, Outdoor Experience Leadership, Facility & Event Management, Physical Education, and Tourism & Events.

Whether the market is teaching physical education in a school system, coaching an athletic team, working with the physical handicapped, leading a recreation program, working in outdoor education, or other recreation settings, WKU offers fully accredited preparation programs to support these career choices.

To facilitate this preparation, WKU's School of Kinesiology, Recreation & Sport has designed rigorous professional preparation programs of study.

WKU's commitment to professional preparation has been recognized by the National Association of Sport and Physical Education as 1 of only 35 colleges and universities nationwide to meet demanding certification standards for both undergraduate and graduate programs.

The Recreation, Park, and Nonprofit Administration curriculum has been accredited since 1980. This accreditation is by the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions.

Thank you for stopping by the webpage and feel free to contact us anytime regarding our degree programs.
