Folk Studies Prospective Students

We offer undergraduate general education courses, an undergraduate Folklore Minor, a Master of Arts in Folk Studies with opportunities to pursue research in all areas of folklore studies and/or to specialize in Public Folklore or Historic Preservation. Students come from all over the country and the world to study folklore at Western Kentucky University. We don't require a background in folklore and our graduate students come to us with a wide range of degrees. We are the home of the Kentucky Folklife Program and, currently, the Journal of American Folklore. Our students have many opportunities to engage in professional training and apply their knowledge. Please contact the Director of Folk Studies or other Folk Studies faculty with questions.
