The Western Kentucky University Communication Disorders Clinic provides effective assessment and treatment services to individuals with communication delays and disorders and serves as a state of the art training facility for students in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department. Student clinicians under the supervision of state licensed and nationally certified speech-language pathologists and/or audiologists provide services. Evaluation, treatment, and consultative services are offered to individuals in the following areas:

• Language Delays, Differences, and Disorders: result of any difficulty with the understanding and/or use of language.
• Speech Sound Disorders: result in incorrect production or use of speech sounds.
• Voice Disorders: result of any deviation in pitch, intensity, quality, or other basic vocal attribute, which consistently interferes with communication.
• Fluency Disorders: result when there is an interruption of the flow of speech subsequently affecting the communication process.
• Hearing Disorders: result in an inability to perceive sound within the normal hearing range.
• Swallowing Disorders: result in an inability to swallow effectively.
• Social Communication Disorders: result in difficulties with the use of verbal and nonverbal language for social purposes.
• Cognitive-Communication Disorders: result in difficulties with one or more of the cognitive processes such as: attention, memory, perception, orientation, language, processing speed, problem solving, metacognition, executive functioning, reasoning, organization, and/or insight and judgment.
• Phonological Awareness and Emergent Literacy Delays: result in an inability to listen to, analyze, and manipulate sounds in words and sentences into smaller units of sound.
• Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC) Services: result of difficulties using verbal speech to express needs, wants, thoughts, ideas, and feelings.
• Accent/Dialect Expansion Services: result of an individual's desire to seek elective services to meet personalized communication goals and objectives.
