Kentucky Climate Center Mission

The Kentucky Climate Center provides climate services, conducts climate research, and engages students in projects that build upon classroom learning, helping to prepare them for the workforce or pursuit of advanced degrees.

Under its umbrella, the Kentucky Climate Center is home to the State Climate Office of Kentucky, the Kentucky Mesonet at WKU, and the Climate Research Lab.

The Kentucky Climate Center also maintains an archive of historical climate data and documents in various forms. We also have access to online climate databases and can help find the information you need.

  • Storm Data - Monthly report on storms and unusual weather. Includes narrative, pictures, and impacts of selected events.
  • Local Climatological Data - Monthly and annual summaries of temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, cloudiness, and wind speed for selected cities.
  • Climatological Data - Monthly and annual summaries of daily temperatures and precipitation for an extensive network or stations. Also includes daily snowfall, snow depth, evaporation, and soil temperature data.
  • Hourly Precipitation Data - Hourly precipitation data from a network of recording rain gages.
