Graphic Designer

Graphic Designer (PAID Position)

Department: WKU Advising and Career Development Center (ACDC)   

Location: DSU 2001                               Hours: 15-20 hours per week (summer and/or fall 2019)

Salary: $7.25

Reports to: Associate Director, Career Development   

Position Summary:

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for the creation, editing, and production of various print, digital, and multimedia creative works for the ACDC as well as managing content for the digital signage in the Downing Student Union. Position available for renewal for the Spring 2020 semester based on performance               

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in creation and implementation of ACDC marketing and promotional activities
  • Applies graphic design principles to create and enhance ACDC advertisements in various formats including but not limited to web, flyers, brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, signs, banners, murals, and physical art
  • Reviews and updates existing signage, advertisements, and other publications
  • Consults with Associate Director and appropriate offices (i.e., Marketing and Communication and Creative Web Services) on questions regarding design, coding, and content
  • Creates and manages content for the digital signage in the Downing Student Union
  • Participates in ACDC career events and promotional activities, as needed

Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Full-time WKU student in good standing:

  • Internship credit may be available for students with related majors (graphic design, visual arts, advertising, etc.)

Communication:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and verbally
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to give a presentation

Technical:

  • Extensive graphic design experience: print and digital
  • Familiarity video recording, editing, and publishing

Applicants should be knowledgeable of the following software and technologies:

  • Adobe Photoshop and other Creative Suite Products or other appropriate software
  • Basic video editing
  • OSX
  • Microsoft Office

Organizational:

  • MUST possess the ability to manage multiple projects and do self-directed work with minimal supervision
