Biography

Joseph Breslin is a recent graduate from Otterbein University with undergraduate degrees in both music and English. During his college career he was the principal violist in the OtterCap Orchestra, and the violist in both Strozzi String Quartet and Cardinal String Quartet. He has also performed alongside many ensembles including Otterbein University's Concert Choir, Cardinal Singers, and Westerville Symphony. 

Alongside performing, Joseph worked under Susan Locke and Linda Steig at Suzuki Music Columbus where he helped teach the Twinkler group class basic rhythms, proper violin posture, and the beginning material of Suzuki Book One. Joseph has also interned at WKU’s Summer String Institute under Kate Walters, where he taught similar philosophies, focusing on the foundations of violin, proper posture, and other beginning material to continue the Suzuki method.

Joseph began his musical career in the second grade with Dr. Ching-Yi Lin and Dr. Andrew Braddock on the violin, before switching to the viola in the eighth grade. Recently, Joseph has become a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and completed Every Child Can (ECC) and Suzuki Violin Unit One training with Ed Sprunger. This fall, Joseph will be at WKU pursuing his master's degree in Music in Pedagogy.
