Cellist Eunice Kim is a dynamic performer and educator whose work is defined by a commitment to technical mastery and pedagogical innovation. A doctoral candidate at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, her recent performances and guest masterclasses have taken her to the University of the Pacific, Vincennes University, and Ball State University. An experienced orchestral musician, she has served as principal cellist for the Philadelphia International Music Festival and as a substitute cellist with the Sarasota Orchestra, Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, and Paducah Symphony Orchestra.
As a collaborative artist, Kim has performed extensively in chamber settings, including side-by-side performances with Bridges MAYO and the "Trialogues of Brahms" for the Bean Blossom Music Series. Her commitment to community engagement is reflected in her outreach performances for ChamberFest Brown County and the Colorado College Music Festival. Her chamber music background is further supported by intensive study at the Borromeo String Quartet Seminar and contemporary music performances for the Tuesday New Music series at the New England Conservatory of Music.
An engaging teacher across all levels, Kim served at the university level as an Associate Instructor at Indiana University. Her pre-college teaching experience includes faculty positions at the Indiana University String Academy and the Bridges Musical Arts Youth Organization, as well as serving as a Cello and Group Class Instructor for the Martinsville School District. She has also served as a Teaching Artist for the Boston String Academy and the Josiah Quincy Orchestra Program through the Boston Philharmonic. Her previous summer teaching appointments include the Indiana University Summer String Academy and the University of Indianapolis. Deeply committed to music education accessibility, Kim also has extensive experience providing lessons for under-resourced students. Through her work with organizations such as Through the Staff and Culture Connect, she has delivered virtual applied instruction and mentorship to help students overcome systemic barriers and successfully prepare for college-level music programs.
Kim maintains a robust profile of creative and research activity, regularly presenting her scholarship at the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) national conferences. In July 2026, she will present "Cultivating Artists Through Aural Heritage Practices" at the ASTA Virtual String Teachers Summit. She is also particularly interested in the future of music and the evolution of string education, actively exploring the intersection of technology and pedagogy by contributing performance data and metrics to a multi-university AI study focused on physiological efficiency for cellists. Her creative portfolio also includes session work, most recently as session cellist for the game scoring of Crow Heist.
Kim earned her Bachelor’s and Master of Music degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music. She is currently completing her Doctor of Music in Cello Performance with minor concentrations in Music Education and Arts Administration.
