Current Studies

Below is a list of our currently running research studies. Any further questions about these projects should be directed to Dr. Amy Brausch.

Longitudinal Assessment of Suicidal Behavior

Our current study of college students examines the progression from nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) to suicidal behavior over a 2 year period. We use a combination of self-report and behavioral measures to assess current engagement in NSSI, affective states, and implicit associations with suicide.

Longitudinal Study of NSSI and Emotion Regulation in a Community Sample of Adolescents

The majority of NSSI begins in adolescence, often following emotion regulatory problems starting in early to mid-childhood. Our ongoing study of adolescents examines the onset of NSSI, emotion regulation difficulties, and suicidal behavior. So far, we have completed 2 years worth of data collection.

CAMS Validation Study for use with Adolescents

The CAMS assessment for suicide has been verified for use with adults, and has shown itself to be a highly effective tool for treating suicidal thoughts and behaviors. However, this assessment has not been validated for use with adolescents. Our lab has partnered with local mental health services providers to validate the use of a section of CAMS with at-risk adolescents.

Online Study of Health Behaviors and Suicide and Self-Harm

Our online study is an ongoing assessment of health-related behaviors such as sleep, eating habits, and exercise and their relation to suicidal behaviors.
