Fashion Studies Concentration
The Fashion Studies Concentration curriculum equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to become leaders in the dynamic and ever-evolving fashion world. Our program combines theoretical and practical learning to prepare students for a wide range of career opportunities in this global industry.
Fashion Studies Goals:
- Students will apply knowledge of fashion design and production processes.
- Students will apply skills to fashion merchandising and retail management.
- Students will apply historical and contemporary knowledge to address issues and trends within the fashion industry.
- Students will apply innovative thinking and technological competencies within the fashion industry.
- Understand the roles of the merchandiser, designer and product developer both locally and globally
- Identify and evaluate design elements and trends from key eras of fashion history
- Employ concepts of fashion merchandising, retail management, retail buying, special events and promotions, visual merchandising, and image/fashion consulting
- Examine concepts related to the cultural, social, and psychological aspects of textiles, dress and appearance
- Achieve economic prosperity while protecting the earth by implementing sustainability practices
- Combine innovative thinking and technological competence to develop, assess, and present information using various sources including the internet and social media
- Gain proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and Excel
