Training Goals
Interns are expected to achieve the following goals during the course of their internship experience at the CC:
- Interns become competent generalist practitioners in a university counseling center setting.
- Interns increase their awareness, knowledge, and skills pertaining multicultural competence and humility.
- Interns develop the knowledge, skills, and experience to offer outreach, psychoeducational/support group, and consultation to the constituents of the campus community in the areas of mental health and psychological well-being.
- Interns become knowledgeable about and sensitive to the ethical and legal standards affecting the professional practice of their own field of discipline and act in a professional manner.
- Interns become competent in clinical assessment (clinical interns only) and psychosocial needs assessment.
- Interns become competent in crisis assessment and intervention with clients and the other constituents of the campus community (clinical interns only).
- Interns develop skills to successfully bridge the science with the practice of psychology (psychology interns only).
- Interns become competent supervisors of master's level interns (post-master's psychology interns only).
