Summer Bridge Program

Whether called the summer setback or summer slide, the learning loss students experience over the summer can have significant impact on their performance in the upcoming school year. Frequently contributing to a loss of 2+ months of skill, this happens during summer vacation when students don’t use the skills learned at school. The Summer Bridge Program in Mathematics will help minimize students’ loss of skills by giving them an instructor-led environment in which to review and practice skills learned or receive guided instruction on key topics covered in the grade they’re entering.

Presented as a “Visit to the Teacher’s Desk”, these classes are designed to help your child review key skills from the previous grade or be prepared for the new school year! Each course is taught by a dedicated instructor who has experience working with elementary school students. The courses are interactive, and participation is highly encouraged.

The Summer Bridge Program in Mathematics is open to any student seeking an engaging environment in which to explore fun, relevant math topics. Topics covered are listed within the description of each program (click the button above) to assist parents and students as they decide which program is best for them. As an example, Grade 6 will be particularly helpful for students who recently completed 6th grade and want to minimize summer losses, or for those who are preparing for 6th grade and want an introduction to the topics they’ll see in the coming year.

**Class sessions will be taught on a reading level matching the course title (e.g. Grade 6 instruction will be taught at a 6th grade reading level).

All Summer Bridge Program Math Classes Include:

  • Expert instruction: Each class is led by a veteran instructor who has spent years in the classroom and who is selected based on their ability to provide a friendly, interactive classroom experience.
  • Sound curriculum: The topics for each class are chosen to align with widely used math standards to ensure that your student spends class time developing the family of skills education experts have identified as central to math mastery at each grade level.
  • Fun, engaging tasks: Students interact with the instructor and other participants.
  • Recorded versions of class sessions: The content of each session is available for viewing 24 hours a day so that students can go back and review topics that they may find challenging.
  • Out-of-class practice problems: Supplementary exercises are provided so that students can gain additional practice with each session’s topics to reinforce what they have learned.
