The Staff Leadership Institute seeks to enhance job performance and personal development skills by challenging the spirit of each participant. This 8-month program is open to any staff member of WKU. The SLI is sponsored by the WKU Staff Council and WKU Human Resources and coordinated by the Continuing & Professional Development office.
To provide a rigorous program that develops leadership skills for a cohort of WKU staff who have demonstrated advancement potential.
Program runs January-August. Participants must commit to attending the 1-day sessions each month.
Application process typically runs mid-October through mid-November.
Participants are notified of their acceptance into the program by December 1.
Selection for participation in the program is competitive and requires recommendation and approval by supervisor(s).
Upon completion of the program participants will be able to:
Use improved leadership competencies
Apply basic leadership principles
Employ knowledge of WKU resources
Learning outcomes are measured through a pre-program and post-program assessment of leadership knowledge, performance in class & reflection activities, as well as an evaluation by immediate supervisor.
