Cecile Garmon serves as the Knicely Professor of Leadership and Director of the Center for Leadership Excellence in the Gordon Ford College of Business as well as Professor of Communication in Potter College at Western Kentucky University. She joined WKU in 1980 and has served in various capacities during those years. Her areas of expertise include intercultural communication, leadership, multinational business communication, global leadership communication, and she has developed a growing interest in the ways in which SubSaharan leaders and followers communicate their ideas about. Her research areas include various aspects of leadership and communication especially related to ethics and culture. She taught at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, as a Senior Fulbright Fellow in 2000 and continues to travel internationally for research and professional interests.  She helps to deliver leadership development activities in the WKU target area and works with local leadership groups to develop and promote their programs.  Garmon holds a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University, M.A.’s from the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University, and a B.A. from the University of Kentucky
