Department of English Awards and Scholarships

Each year the English Department awards several scholarships based on achievement within the department. We invite our majors and minors to apply for departmental scholarships (listed below) at the beginning of each spring semester for the following academic year. You will be considered for all scholarships you are eligible to receive. Amounts the scholarships pay vary. Awards are made between February and May.

The application procedure is as follows:

  1. Pick up an application from the departmental office, Cherry Hall #135.
  2. Ask at least one faculty member to sign your application recommending you.
  3. Include a 300 - 500 word, typed, single-spaced statement of your academic background, achievements, and goals. The quality of your essay is a major consideration. Of course, it should be completely your own work.
  4. Submit the complete form to the departmental office associate in room #135 no later than Friday, February 6, 2015.
