Western Kentucky University has been continuously accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) since 1926. Reaffirmation of the accreditation process occurs in a 10-year cycle. The decennial review is a multi-year process beginning with a comprehensive report based on the Principles of Accreditation due in September of 2024, an off-site review by a SACSCOC review committee in November, and an on-site visit by a SACSCOC peer evaluation committee in February, 2025. Part of the process includes a Quality Enhancement Plan. The plan for this initiative is due prior to the on-site visit in 2025 with the culminating report due with the 5th year interim report in 2030.
Dr. Beth Laves as the Institutional Accreditation Liaison (IAL) is working with many committees to ensure that Western Kentucky University is successful in its bid for reaffirmation of accreditation.
